OUR STORY

Jesus is the lead in our story.

who we are

THEN TO NOW

Woolsey Baptist Church began in the late 1800s. For over 100 years, God has used this church to make a difference in people’s lives, here and around the world. As a Southern Baptist Church, we work alongside other churches to reach lives in Fayetteville, throughout the United States, and to the ends of the earth.

Over the past few decades, God has blessed us exponentially. From young children to students, young adults, and seniors, lives are being transformed!

In order to reach more families and cultivate relationships among our church, we have started the planning process for the main lobby and children’s zone renovations. We look forward to seeing what God has in store for Woolsey and our community!

OUR MISSION

Jesus said, “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” (John 17:3). At Woolsey, we desire to see people’s lives transformed as they know the one, true God!

The two greatest commandments, according to Jesus, are to love God and love one another (Matthew 22:34-40). At Woolsey, we long to see people love God and love others more intimately and passionately.

The Great Commission instructs Christians to go and make disciples, or followers, of Jesus. The Christian life is about following Jesus. At Woolsey, we strive to see people follow Jesus no matter the cost or context.

OUR STRATEGY

We worship God by gathering each week for corporate worship, including singing, prayer and the expositional preaching of God’s Word.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

Hebrews 10:24-25

We join with others in Connect Groups, which are small groups of all ages that meet on Sundays to discuss and apply God’s Word to daily life.

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Ephesians 4:1-3

We serve the church by joining various servant and ministry teams that support ongoing programs and the needs of our church family.

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Galatians 5:13-14

We go make disciples by engaging our relational networks with the life changing message of Jesus Christ.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20
