Austin and Abril Turner

(married in Mexico in July)

Hometown:  Austin is from Brooks and grew up at WBC.
Abril is from Mexico City.

How They Met: They met on a beach in California while Austin was there for a job and Abril was there with friends from church on vacation. It was a surprise to both of them when they realized they were both living near Atlanta.

Engagement & Adoption: They were going to get married in 2021 in the US but God had other plans. Abril returned to Mexico. God had put on her heart that she should return to her family. The decision was very difficult but God was at work. God had also, around the same time, put on Austin’s heart the idea of adoption. This was something they had never considered. Then, one year after returning to her home country, Abril’s sister, Jessica died and left behind 2 babies. It became clearer why God had sent her home for a time and what He had been doing in Austin’s own heart. Shortly after Abril’s sister passed away, God provided a way to take care of the girls, Grecia and Camila, through their calling to adopt. After 3 years of waiting and much paperwork, Abril was legally able to come to the US again. Abril planned a wedding in Mexico for the families to attend. After this, it was time to return to the US, but the girls did not have visas. So, on faith and with God’s leading, Abril went to the US border. At four different ports of entry, she tried to get asylum for the girls. It took four times and many difficulties before God used His mighty hand to miraculously make a way for Grecia and Camilla to cross. Now they are working on the adoption process and living as a family of 4 here in Fayetteville!

Interests: Mission trips, hiking, traveling, and serving the community. Our current hobby is updating our home.

Prayer Requests: Please pray that we can establish a good pattern as a family with devotionals and prayer. That God will provide for our family. Also, that we can finish house renovations and the girls will learn English well. Please pray for Abril as she looks for a job. Please pray for God’s wisdom and guidance as they begin their married life, not just as a couple, but also as instant parents of preschool children!
