Happy new year church family! Thanksgiving and Christmas are some of my favorite holidays, but I also love the fresh start January 1 brings when they’re past (especially when the weather is back above freezing!).
On January 11, we are starting back up our Wednesday night activities for kids, youth, men’s and women’s Bible studies, as well as choir. If you’re not already plugged into one of the groups, I want to invite you to come and sing with our choir on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm.
Our aim as we meet for choir is to do what the Bible says in Colossians 3:16, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God” (ESV). We want to abide in Jesus together, cultivating thankfulness that displays God’s glory. Each Wednesday we spend time praying and discussing God’s Word, as well as memorizing it together. We like to sing some too, and to laugh together as much as possible!
Our desire is to serve our church family each Lord’s Day as we encourage and help facilitate corporate worship by the Spirit’s strength. The most important factor that helps us do this is to be growing personally in relationship with the Lord and with one another. Practicing each week helps us to grow in our ability to sing, but we do so not to draw attention to ourselves (for either how good or how bad we are), but to better point our church family to the glorious truths we proclaim as we behold Jesus together.
I’d love for you to come and join us! Send me an email or come talk to me this Sunday if you’re interested in singing with us, or just curious to learn more about what we do.
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!” (Psalm 95:1).
