What is Missions?
We desire to make Christ known to our neighbors and the world! The command is clear: ‘Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!’ (1 Chronicles 16:24). How will we respond to this command? At home, work, school, or play, the Bible commands Christians to share the good news of Jesus everywhere we go.
In addition, we intentionally share the gospel through partnering with various people and organizations, locally and globally, and facilitating regular short-term mission trips. May God’s glory reign among the nations!
Local Partners
Someone rightly said, “The light that shines the farthest shines the brightest nearest home.” Local missions means intentionally meeting needs in our community and sharing the gospel in those contexts.
Woolsey Baptist Church supports a variety of ministries by giving to our local Baptist association, the Flint River Baptist Association, which encompasses churches in the following counties: Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Pike and Spalding.
Woolsey partners with two local ministries to share the good news of Jesus Christ with those confused and suffering. The Pregnancy Resource Center and Fayette Samaritans are located in Fayette County and demonstrate Christ’s love by meeting people’s tangible needs.
We also send people throughout the year into our community to share the message of the gospel. People go to the Fayette County Jail and a local elementary school to host a Good News Club. We also partner with M28 Church in Midtown, Atlanta.
Global Partners
Jesus’ commands, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15). As a Southern Baptist Church, Woolsey Baptist Church prioritizes global missions by giving to the Cooperative Program, which supports ministries worldwide. Through this Woolsey supports over 5,000 International Mission Board missionaries scattered around the world and 5,000 North American Mission Board missionaries in North America.
We specifically partner with five missionary families who are taking the gospel to the ends of the earth. These families are serving in Baltimore, Taiwan, Uganda, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
